Public Health and Epidemiology

The researchers in this theme aim at reaching a leading position in research into (1) health and wellbeing in the general and the occupational population, (2) the quality and effectiveness of the organisation of (transmural) care, and (3) the course of (chronic) physical and mental health problems in patients and the results of interventions; not only epidemiologic but also normative aspects are addressed. The researchers aim to disseminate this knowledge among governmental bodies, caregivers and patients.

  • every 2-3 months Genetics lunch with debate and presentations from invited speakers or AMC researchers, coordinated by dr. M.A. Grootenhuis and dr. E.M.A. Smets

Network for Principal Investigators is established to stimulate co-operation between the different topics of the PI’s; the network is called POEHIM (Public, Occupational and Epidemiological Health Issues in Medicine).

PhD students may join courses of NIHES (following the entire program leads to registration as epidemiologist).
